Rosie Land

Biography:
Rosie Land, from Cornwall, England, is an Alexander Technique teacher located in Cuernavaca. She studied the Technique in Berlin with Irmel Weber and Heike Sheratte, who were two of the first teachers to qualify as teachers of the Technique in Germany, and she graduated from the Ausbildungszentrum für Alexander Technik Berlin (AZATB) in 2022.
Before completing her Alexander Technique training, Rosie studied the recorder at the Royal College of Music, London, where she graduated with a Bachelor of Music in 2016. She has worked as a professional recorder player and flautist in the UK, Europe, Mexico and the USA both as a soloist and ensemble player; making the most of the recorder’s enormous and diverse repertoire, she performs both early music and contemporary compositions.
From 2014 to 2023, she was part of the award-winning English recorder quartet, BLOCK4, and recorded the group’s first album with them in 2023.

Rosie understands from her own experience the challenges that are faced by musicians of all levels; the recorder is not only one instrument, but rather an instrument family including recorders of up to two meters tall, which of course presents physical challenges for the musician. It was these difficulties that inspired her to study the Alexander Technique and share this important work with other musicians.
Alongside her work with the Technique and as a recorder player, Rosie has been a teacher - of the recorder, youth ensembles, and of English - for more than ten years, specializing in working with school-aged children. This experience has led her to investigate the possibilities for including the Alexander Technique in primary music education and in early education in general, as she continues to develop this part of her practice as an educator.
Currently, Rosie offers private and group classes in the north of Cuernavaca for all ages and experience levels, as well as specialized classes for musicians, and for children and teens.
