Josué Aguilar


Biography:
Actor/ Hair stylist / Alexander Technique teacher
A graduate from the Escuela Nacional de Arte Teatral (INBA, 2012), Josué is an actor specialized in anthropological theater and open space theater. He is also a certified Alexander Technique teacher, having studied at the Escuela de Técnica Alexander México (ETAM, 2018). Josué is an active member of the Mexican Association of Alexander Technique Teachers (APTAM).
As a performance artist, actor-dancer and puppeteer, Josué has 18 years of stage experience in Mexican and international festivals, as well as productions in Mexico City and Mexico State. He has worked with various directors in the Mexican scene and with members of the Sistema Nacional de Creadores del Arte del Fondo Nacional para la Cultura y las Artes (FONCA).
In his stage practice, Josué has developed a personal laboratory to explore acting and character creation through anthropological theater, mask theater, and Alexander Technique, which has been a fundamental turning point in his work as a performer. This research lab for acting technique has led him to collaborate as a teacher.
In 2017, he worked as a stage movement advisor at the XII Muestra estatal de Tlaxcala, coaching street, mask, realism, musical and cabaret performances.


In 2019, he collaborated as a choreographer and stage movement advisor in Ángel, a production directed by Isaías Avilés. He also worked with Tribu Producciones advising in their opera prima Katsumi y el dragón, directed by Andrea Salgado. As part of the program Incubadora de Grupos Teatrales Teatro UNAM. This production obtained nominations for best work for young audiences at the METRO 2021 awards. Salgado writes about the important role of Josué's advising in her graduation paper: Proceso de dirección de la puesta en escena Katsumi y el dragón: la importancia de la composición escénica en un espectáculo de teatro sin palabras. In 2024, Josué advised the staging of Los monstruos de Nos by Abigail Martinez, directed by Andrea Salgado, with the Telar de Miradas company.
From 2023 onwards, he has been working at DUBBTICA estudios, training voice dub actors. He has taught the courses: Alexander Technique applied to voice use and microphone technique, Alexander Technique for performing artists, and Acting for voice dubbing. Based on the Alexander Technique, anthropological theater and mask technique.
His main work and pedagogical exploration is focused in the integral use of the body and voice in character development, as well as in the elaboration of easily accessible character development tools using Alexander Technique’s conscious use of self on-stage.
As a hair stylist and Alexander Technique teacher, Josué pioneers the training of beauty salon personnel and businesses in general for injury-prevention, with the goal of decreasing injury-related work absences. Josué also coaches image design and the integral use of the body to benefit the market presence of business executives.
